Chapter Opener

Requirements

  • The first slide of every deck is the Chapter Opener. 
  • The Chapter Opener slide must include: 
    • Book’s title and edition 
    • JPG (150 dpi) of the book cover 
    • Alternative text for book cover image 
    • Chapter number and title 
    • Pearson name and logo
    • Copyright information (must be read by a screen reader) 

Important Info

  • Use the “Chapter Opener – add copyright” layout slide within the template by navigating Home > Slides > Layout.  
  • Make sure alternative text includes: 
    Front Cover: TITLE EDITION by LAST NAME OF THE AUTHOR 
    For example: “Front Cover: Chemistry: A Molecular Approach Fifth Edition by Tro.”
  • By default, the copyright information is in the footer, right side. However, if you choose to have slide numbers that are located in the footer, right side, the copyright information should be placed in the middle of the footer. 
  • Do not use “hidden text” (white text on white background). Learning Management Systems like Blackboard, report this has an error. Screen reader messages may go in the Notes Pane and Properties Comments box. 
  • Do not use any backgrounds or watermarks
  • Reading order of the slide should be left to right:
    • RO1: Book Title
    • RO2: Book Edition
    • RO3: Front Cover Alt-text
    • RO4: Chapter Number
    • RO5: Chapter Name
    • RO6: Pearson Logo
    • RO7: Copyright Information
