Reading Order

Requirements

• Reading order must be checked on every slide.
• Reading order should follow left to right, top to bottom and match the visual reading order. However, there are times where a better user experience allows for a modified reading order.

Important Info

There are 2 different ways to check reading order:

1. Selection Pane
   Home > Drawing > Arrange > Selection Pane
   Bottom to top reading order – when checking reading order, screen readers will read the last item first and work their way up the list. The first item on the list will be read last. You can change the order using the up and down arrow keys.
2. Reading Order Pane
   Review > Check Accessibility > Warnings
   Or you can do a PPT search for “Reading Order Pane”
   This is a top to bottom reading order. You can change the order using the up and down arrow keys.
